A state of the art medical, teaching hospital and educational facility, the New Tawam Hospital strongly reflects the architects philosophy to always place the patient at he heart of the concept, all while drawing inspiration from the local cultural, historic and climatic context. The proposed facility opens out to its surrounding urban neighbourhood, forming a central part of a new and sustainable urban development that welcomes the entire population.

The 652-bed hospital, located to the north-east of the site. has been designed along a central east- west axis that serves the main hospital entrance and functions on several levels to provide: – a drop-off point at the main entrance at the piazza level – direct access to the car parking – additional vehicular access underneath the piazza level for authorised medical day care patients and inpatients – a service road for the new ambulance and transport department In addition, an internal road, which is parallel to 144th Street, will serve the emergency department, the royal suites and the oncology institute.
